15.81 carat sakura diamond christies magnificent gems auction

Think Pink Fancy Colored Diamonds Are All the Rage

Pink fancy colored diamonds are more popular than ever. That is why we're excited to get a glimpse of this 15.81 carats, fancy pink Sakura diamond ring. It happens to be the centerpiece for the upcoming Christie's Magnificent Jewels sale in Hong Kong. It is the largest fancy-vivid-purple-pink-colored diamond ever to go up for auction. As if the spectacular color is not enough, the crystal is also a type IIa internally flawless diamond. The Sakura diamond sits in a ring that also contains two trapezoid-shaped accents. Christie's estimates that the piece will fetch between $25-38 million when the auction hammer falls on May 23rd. Chairman of the Jewelry Division for Christie's Asia Pacific, Vickie Sek, had this to say about the Sakura diamond ring: "This exceptionally rare and magnificent wonder of nature represents a unique expression of identity and mesmerizing beauty through its enthralling purple-pink hue that will undoubtedly capture the hearts of discerning connoisseurs and collectors worldwide."

Additional Rare Diamonds and Gems:

The Magnificent Jewelry Auction will also feature the 4.19 carat, Sweet Heart fancy vivid pink heart-shaped diamond. There is also a Briolette-shaped diamond weighing 50.05 carats that is D-Flawless. Also of note is the Star of Parure set of sapphire and diamond jewels from Stéphanie de Beauharnais, the grand duchess of Baden, and the adopted daughter of Emperor Napoléon Bonaparte. That set includes a tiara, a collier, a pair of earrings, two pendants, two brooches, a ring, and a bracelet. There is also a sapphire and diamond crown that belonged to Maria II, queen of Portugal. The headpiece contains a large Burmese sapphire center stone valued at $371,584. It certainly is exciting to see the magnificent gems and jewels that go up for auction. However, it is no longer necessary to wait to purchase auction-worthy diamonds and jewelry because RARE by Brian Gavin provides discreet access to the world's most spectacular gems.
