A Love Story in Motion: Ping & Kevin’s Ballroom Journey (and the Diamonds That Dance With Them)

A Love Story in Motion: Ping & Kevin’s Ballroom Journey (and the Diamonds That Dance With Them)

At Brian Gavin Diamonds, we often meet clients during meaningful seasons of life. Sometimes it starts as a straightforward conversation about a diamond or a setting, and it turns into something more personal as we learn what matters to them.

That is exactly what happened with Ping and Kevin.

Ping reached out and connected with Brian, and as the conversation continued, we learned that she and Kevin are ballroom dancers. It is not a casual interest for them. They perform as an amateur couple at venues across Texas, and Ping recently won Top Amateur Solo Performance at the Texas Grand Championship for one of her favorite routines. She shared photos from their performances, including one with their teacher, and it was a reminder of how much discipline and teamwork go into something that looks effortless on the floor.

Ballroom dancing is built on trust and timing. It requires a strong partnership, steady practice, and a willingness to keep refining the details. That mindset feels familiar to us, because craftsmanship works the same way. The best results come from precision, patience, and care for the small things that most people never notice at first glance.

When it came time to choose their rings, Ping selected two statement pieces that still keep a classic silhouette. The first is an 11ct oval, and the second is a 10ct emerald cut. Both are set in custom-made platinum solitaires with hidden halos.

The oval has a graceful look on the hand and gives a bright, lively presence as it moves through light. The emerald cut offers a different type of visual impact, with clean lines and a mirror-like pattern that feels calm and confident. Setting both stones in platinum keeps the look crisp, and it also supports long-term wear.

The hidden halos were chosen for a reason too. They keep the top view simple, and they add extra sparkle when the ring shifts with movement. It is a detail that feels personal, because it is not meant to be loud. It is meant to be discovered.

We are grateful when clients share more than a purchase. Ping and Kevin’s story is a reminder that jewelry does not live in a box. It shows up in the middle of real life, in the moments people work for, celebrate, and remember.

Ping and Kevin, thank you for letting us see a piece of your world, and thank you for trusting us with rings that will be with you through many more performances.
