Brian Gavin Replaces UK Customer's Lost Engagement Ring With A Signature Cushion Cut Diamond Ring

Brian Gavin Replaces UK Customer's Lost Engagement Ring With A Signature Cushion Cut Diamond Ring

Back in April, Werner H. contacted us from the UK about replacing his wife's lost engagement ring with a Brian Gavin Signature Hearts and Arrows Cushion Cut Diamond and beautiful Fishtail Pave with Truth Head setting. We were so fortunate that he shared his story with us and kept us updated with all of the exciting details all along the way.

Hi Catherine,

Many thanks for getting in touch. I am looking at replacing my wife engagement ring for her birthday (she lost it in the horse stables a while ago). It was a bespoke ring made here in London Hatton Garden. After reading a review online, I decided I wanted to look at the ' Hearts & Arrows' cut as I am buying remotely and am clearly no expert. The signature diamonds also look amazing. I am after the total effect and hence leave it to experts to juggle all the dimensions/aspects of the stone. My budget including all taxes and duties is around £4000. I was considering a 6 prong fishtail pave or a Fishtail Pave setting with the "Truth Head". I had concerns about import duties and taxes i.e. hidden costs when buying abroad? Your help is appreciated. Warm regards, Werner H.

Werner eventually decided on a Brian Gavin Signature .722 H VS2 Hearts and Arrows Cushion Cut Diamond and Platinum Legera Pave setting. He was very excited about the ring's arrival and even shared their story about how they met and their life thereafter.

Happy to share our story:

Gemma and I met in 2009 while working together in Ascot (the home of royal horse racing). Gemma has always had a passion for horses and eve competed against the Queen's granddaughter Zara Phillips. We moved to lovely town in the Cotswolds full of sandstone buildings, an ancient church and regular farmers markets. Gemma competed in British Eventing with her horses and I enjoyed mountain biking in the forests at night. Then a lot of things happened in a short space of time – we decided to move to Africa to start medical and food processing business to help the poorest create an income. I had arranged as a surprise for Gemma to design her own engagement ring and we spent a lovely weekend in London around Hatton Gardens choosing a diamond and meeting the jewelry designer. I asked Gemma to marry me overlooking the Thames at dusk and we retired to a 18th century hotel the Rookery with four poster beds, a honesty bar (you just write down what you had) and fireplaces. Not long after (despite Doctors having convinced us to the contrary) Gemma surprised me with news of pregnancy (we have the most gorgeous 3 year old girl). We had a tough although adventurous time in Africa (where I am was raised) and returned to England having lost our belongings, home, cars and now with a baby due in 3 feet of snow. The next 3 years were 'character building' as they say. Gemma worked with her hands while I drove 250 miles for work. A lot of faith and hard work got us through. Gemma had been cleaning out the horse stables and while putting her gloves back on realized she had lost the engagement ring. We had spent to insurance claim money for the lost engagement ring to buy food and other debts. My career has rocketed allowing me finally fulfill my promise to first of all marry Gemma (on a wine estate in Cape Town) and now….. to replace her engagement ring…

Upon learning Gemma's ring had shipped, he shared more big news with us. Werner and Gemma were expecting again!

Brilliant news! Good timing as we confirmed today our 2nd baby is on its way and healthy today. 😉 I can highly recommend Rhodes Island in Greece. People are amazing. Picture attached. We've also booked Disney world for May next year in Florida so very excited all round. I am going to book a special evening to present her with this wonderful ring! Thank you and keep you posted. Best regards, Werner

A few short days later, Werner received the ring and presented it to Gemma along with their 3 year old daughter.

Hello Catherine !

I couldn't wait and gave it to Gemma right away.( well my 3 year old was so excited to be able to hand it over). We both absolutely loved it. It really is an amazing piece of work. We are attending a big wedding next weekend so it's perfect timing. I will do a write up after the wedding and give feedback on friends comments. 🙂 Thank you so much. Best regards Werner

Gemma was thrilled with the outcome of her new engagement ring and so was one of her friends. So much so that she wanted a wedding band made based on her ring!

Good morning Catherine,

We had a tremendous weekend which included watching http://www.theo2.co.uk/events/detail/cirque-du-soleil from a VIP suite. Gemma went for meal with friend who had also received a engagement ring for a similar budget from UK based online dealer. Gemma says there was a huge difference in sparkle and quality and her friend now wants a wedding band based on your ring. The wedding at Ashdown Park was amazing and again everyone loved the ring. We intend to have it valued locally and also order the matching band as soon as possible. You are welcome to use our pictures and also the story I sent you previously.

Below are photos that Werner sent us as well as the gorgeous finished product. Best wishes Werner and Gemma! We look forward to working with you again.
